Testimonials

"Working with Karolina was transformative. In just weeks, she helped me identify and dismantle the blockers I hadn't even been aware of (!) that were holding me back. She unlocked a confidence in me I never thought possible. I came stuck and unsure. I left unstoppable.""The whole process is an eye opener. Even where I am aware of certain behaviours, sessions gave me a different insight. Karolina made the process clear from the get-go. She has also made herself available for the sessions in a way that works with my calendar, and makes it clear what she expects homework-wise, etc."
"Every barrier I thought was permanent, simply disappeared. It really feels like a breakthrough! The best thing of all is that I am now so much happier and finally feel I am in the driving seat of my own life!"
"I had complete faith and trust in you. I felt I could speak openly without fear of saying the wrong thing, or being judged. You listened and allowed me time and space to reflect. You asked exactly the right questions and I often surprised myself by already knowing the answer!""The experience has been excellent. When Karolina first started working with me I was struggling with the overwhelm of a busy and what I viewed as a stressful job, busy personal life and a wish to launch a business. By the time we finished, I had learned to control the overwhelm, realised this was why I viewed my job as stressful, and had taken control of all areas of my life. I no longer feel constant overwhelm. When I do feel overwhelmed, I am able to quickly take control. And... my business has progressed!""Thank you for my coaching sessions. They have transformed my life!"

cognitive distortionsthe language we use in everyday life impacts how we experience the world, and how we are perceived by others. we see, and therefore we describe, the world through the lens of our own experiences, beliefs, and biases (our own map of the world). Therefore, inevitably, things get "lost in translation". We lose information by deleting it, generalising, and distortion.

Cognitive Distortions occur where some aspects of our experiences are given more, or less, weight and focus than others.
What we distort, and how, provides indication to our underlying beliefs about ourselves and others.
Please look at the Top 10 Cognitive Distortions below, and answer Yes or No to indicate which of them do you tend to use:

1. All or Nothing Thinking - seeing things as black or white, right or wrong, with nothing in between. E.g. "If I am not perfect, then I am a failure.", "I ate a chocolate bar - my whole diet is ruined!", "If I can't do it perfectly, I shouldn't even try."2. Overgeneralisation - using words like 'always', 'never', 'everyone', 'no one'. E.g. "He always does that.", "I will never get that promotion."3. Minimising / Magnifying and Catastrophising - seeing things as dramatically more or less important than they actually are, and imagining catastrophic outcomes. E.g. "I got that promotion only because they had a quota to fill.", "If I am made redundant, what if I can never find another job?!"4. Should / Must / Ought to / Need to / Have to - using those words and then feeling guilty when you don't follow through, or resentment when someone else doesn't. E.g. "I need to start a diet.", "I must spend more time on that business idea.", "My partner should know what I mean!"5. Labelling - attaching a negative label to yourself or others, even following a single event. E.g. "I am so lazy, I couldn't get myself to go running before work.", "She made a mistake - she is so incompetent!"6. Discounting the Positive - rejecting the positives convincing oneself that "could happen to anyone" or "doesn't count". E.g. "I did well on that test, but that was just luck.", "My boss complimented me, but she was just probably being nice."7. Fortune Telling - making negative predictions about the future without evidence. E.g. "No one will show up to my presentation.", "If I go to this function, no one will talk to me."8. Mind Reading - claiming to know someone's internal state. E.g. "He didn't smile at me; he must not like me.", "Everyone probably thinks I am awkward."9. Emotional Reasoning - assuming a feeling or emotion reflects objective truth. E.g. "I feel like such an idiot (so it must be true I am one).", I feel nervous about flying, so it must not be safe to get on a plane."10. Blame & Personalisation - blaming yourself when you weren't entirely responsible, or blaming others and denying your role in the situation. E.g. "My child is struggling at school, I must be a bad parent.", "If my parents supported me more, I'd be successful now."

Reflect on your language and habits - what might be causing this? What changes can you make to challenge those distortions and replace them with more balanced, realistic thoughts?
